Katie’s Journey

I am at the end of my rope.  I have been emailing Rene who has given advice and I have read all yours comments.

Our vet came out to the house today.  I brought Katie back home from the emergency hospital that we had to take her to because she developed a severe and I mean severed infection.  She has necrotic areas on the hip area above where the leg was removed.  This wound is horrible.  We are cleaning it the way we were told.  How can we find someone who could surgically repair the openings that have developed.  I don’t want to loose her and it is breaking my heart to see this.  There has to be something out there that can be done.  We have come so far in medicine you would think this would be something that could be corrected.

Katie

This is something very new for me.  My White German Shepherd has just had surgery to remove her left rear leg due to recurring neurofibromas.  She had the surgery Monday and we just brought her home this morning.  She is not eating anything at all, hasn’t peed and hasn’t attempted much movement.  I don’t want to act nervous yet but I wondered how long it takes for the adjustment to try walking without the leg.  I carried her out of the vet and carried her from the car into my apartment.  When we have tried to get her to walk she is not interested yet.  What are your feelings out there in tripawd land.
